ART & PROCESS

Each Bodega 202 vintage expresses the nuances of aroma and terroir particular to their plots in Rioja Alavesa.

Our viticulture philosophy requires minimal intervention to maintain a natural balance. We use aromatic and medicinal plants next to our vines to elevate the aromatic complexity.

During harvest, our goal is to get the best grapes from the vines to the selection table as quickly as possible. Our hand-picked grapes are kept fresh on dry ice from picking until arrival at the pre-crusher. We deploy the best pre-crush process and a “seedless tank technology” to remove the seeds at the beginning of fermentation, improving astringency.

We use 100% French Oak barrels made by the best cooperages and carefully combine the barrels that best suit our plots.

ANSA 2016

ANSA, the ‘most beloved’ in Gaelic, reflects the targeted wines for Bodega 202. ANSA expresses the voice of our oldest vineyards (70+ years old, some centenary) located mainly in the town of Elvillar.

From small lots of ancient vineyards spread through a small area, wines are made and aged independently, blended once barrel aging is over. Freshness, a complex bouquet, delicacy in the expression, balance and elegance characterize this wine aimed to provide pleasure to the senses.

CRIANZA 2019

Our CRIANZA 2019 is made from two extreme plots of the DOCa Rioja whose common denominator is its altitude.

The easternmost vineyard, in Kripán, has a special microclimate ideal for growing vines. Its southern orientation and its very poor soils are under the strong influence of the winds.

The westernmost end is located on the slopes of Salinillas de Buradón, on a limestone soil and southwest orientation. This microclimate makes it protected from late spring frosts.

Place: Kripán and Salinillas de Buradón.
Vintage: 2019
Varietal: Tempranillo
Appelation: DOCa Rioja
Aging: 12 months in third use French and American oak
Bottling date: November 2021
Alcohol: 14,5% by vol

ART & PROCESS

Each Bodega 202 vintage should express the nuance of aroma and terroir particular to its plot in Rioja, with innovative markers to impart our signature on the wine.

Our viticulture philosophy is minimal intervention to maintain a natural balance. We use Aromatic and Medicinal Plants alongside our vines to raise aromatic complexity and combat enemies in a sustainable way.

During harvest, our goal is to get the best grapes from vine to selection table as quick as possible. We have developed “seedless tanks” to remove seeds at the beginning of fermentation, which improves astringency.

We carefully choose the best cooperages to combine the oak barrels that best suit our plots. This is where our parcel wines are aged for several months.
